Scotland's Thatched Buildings - developing a plan for the future

Thursday 4 May 2017

Culloden Battlefield Visitor Centre

Event Description

Historic Environment Scotland, in collaboration with the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (Scotland), the National Trust for Scotland, and the Scottish Vernacular Buildings Working Group, invites you to come and discuss the future of thatched buildings in Scotland.

This one day event of talks and discussion will be of interest to all those who own or manage thatched buildings, and anyone with an interest in Scotland’s vernacular buildings.  It is particularly relevant for local authority planners, building professionals, local heritage groups and  estate managers.  As well as considering the importance of thatched buildings in Scotland, and how to protect them for the future, this event will also present the findings of the SPAB survey of Thatched Buildings in Scotland, a unique gazetteer of  thatched buildings in the country.

The survey can be downloaded here.
