Our interactive exhibits, 3D theatre, augmented reality experiences and hands-on activities will bring Scotland’s built heritage to life before you. Scotland’s building conservation centre is in Stirling, right at the heart of the country. Visitors can reach us easily by road or rail, and our imposing landmark of a building is clearly visible from both bus and train station. Edinburgh Airport is only 40 minutes away.

The Engine Shed has been supported by a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to create Scotland’s dedicated building conservation centre. It enables us to encourage understanding of traditional building materials and skills among the public and professionals and raise standards in conservation for traditional buildings.
