Nagasaki Crane Mobile App

Attending an event at the Engine Shed? Download our augmented reality app and experience the historic Nagasaki Crane in 3D.

The Giant Cantilever Crane at the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries shipyard in the Port of Nagasaki is a major landmark in a city with strong historical links to Scotland. The crane was designed by the Glasgow Electric Crane and Hoist Company and constructed by the Motherwell Bridge Company.

Along with Glasgow School of Art, we 3D laser scanned the Nagasaki Crane as part of the Scottish Ten Project, which digitally documented Scotland’s then five World Heritage Sites as well as a further five international heritage sites.

Experience the historic Nagasaki Crane in 3D by downloading our mobile application for Android and Apple iOS

To view the Nagasaki crane in our augmented reality app:

We're always looking for feedback, so please send any ideas on how we can improve the app to web@hes.scot.
